James Longoria, DVM

Urgent Care Medical Director

Dr. James Longoria was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas, where his passion for animals began on a ranch surrounded by cattle, sheep and a variety of pets. With 17 years of experience in the veterinary industry, his dedication to animal care began at age 15, when he volunteered over the summer at a mixed animal clinic. He went on to work for the clinic through the remainder of high school, all of college and some of veterinary school.
He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Auburn University in 2019 and has been practicing veterinary medicine for nearly five years. His favorite part about being a vet is living out his lifelong dream and performing procedures that improve his patients’ health and quality of life. He has a particular passion for dentistry and surgeries, including cystotomies, foreign object removals, mass removals, and other elective and non-elective procedures.
A few years back, Dr. Longoria followed Dr. Lindsey Merrill, his best friend and former veterinary school roommate, to Dallas and is excited to work with her at ReadiVet. He shares his home with two cats he rescued during veterinary school and three dogs who “found him” early in his career. Outside of work, he tends to his six chickens and enjoys incubating their eggs and hatching chicks—a hobby that never fails to bring him joy.
