To better understand at-home veterinary care and the services we provide, we’ve compiled answers to our most frequently asked questions to help you when asking, “Is mobile veterinary the right fit for me and my pets?” (Answer: It is!)
What is a mobile vet?
A mobile vet is a veterinary clinic that comes to you! At ReadiVet, we perform 70-80% of traditional veterinary care in the comfort of your home, reducing stress for both you and your pet. See our Services page for more!
What are the benefits of mobile veterinary care?
Mobile vet care is perfect for pets with anxiety over carriers, car rides and vet clinic waiting rooms, multi-pet families, senior pets and pets with mobility or transportation issues. For pet parents with busy schedules, mobile veterinary care is a convenient choice for those that work-from-home or want to save time driving to and from a veterinary appointment. We typically offer same or next-day appointments for added convenience.
How does a mobile vet work?
Booking an appointment is easy — create your ReadiVet account to schedule an online appointment or schedule an appointment by texting or calling your local ReadiVet office. Our experienced veterinarian and their veterinary technician will come to your front door, equipped to treat your pet in the comfort of your home.
What kind of veterinary services do you provide in-home?
We provide 70-80% of veterinary care in-home, including routine wellness exams, sick exams, vaccinations, diagnostic testing and the management of chronic conditions such as arthritis with monthly Librela or Solensia injections. We also end-of-life care and at-home euthanasia, ensuring your pet’s comfort and care across every stage of life.
Do you offer at-home euthanasia and end-of-life care?
As the only medical profession licensed to perform at-home euthanasia, it’s our honor to provide a peaceful and dignified goodbye to your best friend in the comfort of home. We also offer Quality of Life Assessments and hospice care to give your beloved dog or cat their best last days. Learn more about these services on our End-of-Life Care page.
Do you provide emergency veterinary care?
No, we do not provide emergency services. ReadiVet focuses on routine, preventative and chronic condition management as your primary veterinarian. If you believe your pet may be experiencing a life-threatening emergency, please contact an emergency care facility near you.
What if my pet needs care outside of my home?
Surgeries, X-rays, dental cleanings, spay and neuter surgeries are all done in our fully equipped veterinary clinics, located in each city we serve. These facilities are available for more complex treatments and all surgical procedures to ensure comprehensive care and safety for your pet.
How much does mobile veterinary care cost?
Our veterinary service pricing remains competitive with other veterinarians in your area, with an additional $60 travel fee for our mobile services. This fee covers the cost of bringing our high-quality veterinary care to your home. Detailed service pricing can be found on your ReadiVet location’s page.
Do you accept pet insurance?
Yes, we do! Let us know if you have pet insurance when you book your appointment. After the appointment, we’ll provide an invoice so you can submit a claim to your pet insurance provider for reimbursement.
What kind of pets do you take care of?
We provide veterinary care for dogs and cats of all ages. Whether your pet is a playful kitten or a senior dog, we offer tailored care that meets their specific health needs.
What pets benefit most from mobile vet care?
Mobile vet care is perfect for pets with anxiety over carriers, car rides and clinic waiting rooms. It’s also a great option for multi-pet families, senior pets and pets with mobility or transportation issues.
How can I prepare for an at-home veterinary appointment?
Our team will have your pet’s records on hand, and we’ll bring everything necessary for the appointment. We simply recommend designating a safe space in your home where your pet feels comfortable for the appointment to take place.
Do I have to be present for the appointment?
Nope! We offer a telehealth option that allows you to join via video chat while we care for your pet at home. However, having a pet parent at home is recommended to help your pet relax and feel safe with our team.
What does the vet bring to an at-home veterinary appointment?
Our veterinarian and vet tech will arrive fully equipped with everything needed for the visit. This includes a scale for weighing your pet, vaccines and supplies for diagnostic tests such as blood work and fecal screenings. This ensures your pet receives comprehensive care in the comfort of their own home.
What sets ReadiVet apart from traditional veterinary care?
ReadiVet offers a more personalized and less stressful experience for both pets and their owners. By observing your pet in their home environment, we get a more accurate picture of their behavior and health. Plus, with more one-on-one time between the vet and your pet, we’re able to deliver high-quality, individualized care.
How do prescriptions and medication refills work?
Our vets can prescribe medications as needed, and we offer delivery options for your convenience. You can also request medication refills through our online portal.
